A rebound in basketball is the result of a missed shot attempt by the offensive team in which a player attempting a shot at the basket has hit the rim, backboard, or a combination of the two. The basketball travels away from the basket to one of the teams on offense or defensive jockey for position to recover the basketball in order to gain possession of the basketball to try and attempt to score.
During his box out, I’m easily able to fake him out one direction get to his side/inside and move him out of my way for an easy put back or rebound. Then he starts calling fouls on me saying I’m pushing him off because of the mismatch. Never have I had a foul called on me for this or seen this called in pickup.
Over the Back – this foul is usually called when going up for an offensive rebound. It’s when a player reaches over the back of the defender to grab a rebound. Offensive fouls don’t occur as often as defensive fouls, but they’re just as heartbreaking.
